Cake smash photoshoot: what to expect? đđž
ï»ż
Iâm a 1st birthday and cake smash photographer in Charlotte, and Iâm going to tell you what to expect from this type of session.
CHAOS
Yes, some sessions are calm and others are chaotic, and thatâs completely okay because they are 1-year-old babies and they are not used to having a camera in front of them. Sometimes the child wonât want to touch the cake, wonât smile, might cry, or just be in a bad moodâand thatâs totally fine. The important thing is to capture the moment.
I know you may want lots of smiling photos, but if they donât smile, thatâs okay too. These are memories and stories to look back on when theyâre older and say, âWow, that cake smash session was chaotic,â but weâre so glad we have these photos to remember it.
MESS! đ„
Come prepared for the session, as there will be a mess. Bring a towel to clean your child before getting in the car and a bag to place their clothes in.
Itâs important to avoid cakes with a lot of food coloring, as they can stain clothing if youâd like to keep them as a keepsake. I also recommend choosing a simple white cake, as it matches any decoration beautifully.
BRING TO THE SESSION WHATEVER MAKES YOUR CHILD SMILE đ
We will do everything we can to make your child smile. A stuffed teddy bear, a song, or even the person who always gets a laugh from your child are all welcome at the session. Anything that makes your child happy should be there to help us capture great photos.
Be prepared to make silly faces and act goofy the whole time. đ
Donât get frustrated if the session doesnât go as expected.
Thatâs why itâs important to prepare your child before the session and make sure the time you choose is when they are usually in a good mood.
